About

Basmati rice is believed to have been cultivated in the Indian subcontinent for centuries. The earliest extant work to mention basmati rice is Heer Ranjha (1766). Basmati was introduced to the Middle East and Central Asia by Arab and Muslim Indian traders. The areas of basmati rice production in India are in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Basmati rice is a long-grain rice that is frequently served with curries. Basmati comes in both white and brown varieties, with the brown version being healthier. Basmati rice is also lower on the glycemic index than regular rice, which may make it a better choice when you're trying to lose weight or manage blood sugar levels. It is good for heart health as it is low in saturated fat. It helps prevent cancer as the best nutrient to fight cancer cells is fiber, and basmati rice is rich in fiber. It is good for brain health too as it contains a vitamin called thiamin. Thiamin improves concentration and memory. It also helps in overall mental health. Thiamine is also beneficial for preventing Alzheimer’s disease. Apart from this, basmati rice helps prevent hemorrhoids and constipation. It controls blood pressure.
