Gulkand is a sweet preserve made of rose petals and sugar. Rose petals and sugar are layered in a wide-mouthed airtight glass jar. This is the air dried in the sun everyday for around 3–4 weeks stirring on alternate days. When the process is complete and the rose petals shrink, the gulkand is tightly sealed in a container. Gulkand is a powerful antioxidant and a very good rejuvenator. Consuming 1 – 2 teaspoons of gulkand everyday, helps reduce acidity and stomach heat. It also helps in treating ulcers and prevents swelling in the intestine. Gulkand is known to strengthen teeth and gums.
