Where the game grew up
The game was born indoors in Chicago in the late 1880s and spent a century becoming itself. Title IX opened the doors in 1972, and a generation of girls walked through them. Then, in 1996, fastpitch made its Olympic debut on Georgia soil: eight nations at Golden Park in Columbus, and a state that never looked at the game the same way again.
The first Olympic gold in this sport was decided on Georgia dirt.
What followed was not a moment but a culture. Fields filled, programs multiplied, and the Southeast turned summer into a proving ground. Georgia became a place where the game is measured in reps and standards, where softball is not a season so much as a language.

ORIGIN starts in Georgia because this is where the game is hardest to fake. The talent runs deep, the competition is honest, and the families who live it can tell the difference between a program and a promise. Buford sits in the middle of that: Gwinnett and Hall counties, the north Atlanta corridor, a stretch of ground college softball knows by name.
