Club volleyball taught you the travel life. Softball speaks a dialect you already know.

Tryouts, uniforms, tournament weekends, the team hotel, the group chat. The club rhythm you already run translates whole. So does the athlete. The explosive lateral movement, the hand-eye, the reading of a play as it develops, softball rewards all of it, and coaches love a volleyball athlete’s first step.

The two-sport secret

The calendars overlap, and a family that plans for it keeps one calendar. Club volleyball runs October into May, into July for teams chasing nationals. School volleyball starts in middle school and plays August into October, the same months Georgia plays school softball. Travel softball’s main season runs spring through July.

A player who loves both does not have to choose early, and more of her game comes with her than most families expect. Her serve is her at-bat, the moment that belongs to her alone inside a team game. An overhand serve already moves like a throw, and a pass to a spot is a throw to a base.
