An ORIGIN program
ORIGIN Battery.
Pitching and catching, a program of the game pillar.
The circle and the plate.
ORIGIN Battery is where pitchers and catchers do their work together.
The bullpen, the signs, and the trust between the two of them that a game runs on. The circle and the plate are taught as one job, because they are one job.
Planned for the long game.
A pitcher’s workload and a catcher’s day are planned under Guard.
The arm and the knees she has at twenty-two are part of the plan at twelve. The rest is part of the work, never a break from it.
What it’s built on.
For players
Two jobs that move as one. A pitcher learns to trust her catcher, and a catcher learns to own the game in front of her.
For coaches
Pitching and catching taught side by side, so the signs, the targets and the adjustments come from one language.
At practice
Bullpen work with a purpose, catchers geared up, and every pitch thrown to a target.
On game day
A pitcher and a catcher working one plan, pitch by pitch, and trusting it.
The whole secret. Trust is thrown and caught.
Pitch by pitch.
